Our Mission: Building an Economy That Lasts

The economy isn’t working

Most of us can feel it. The cost of living, the instability, the sense that decisions affecting our lives are made far away by people who don’t share our priorities. The current economic system wasn’t handed down from nature. It was built by people. And that means it can be rebuilt. Resilient Economy CIC exists to make that happen.

We’re a Community Interest Company working to shift the UK toward a Wellbeing Economy, one where economic decisions are made in service of people and planet, not the other way around.

The Problem: A system designed for fragility

For over forty years, our economy has been reordered around centralisation and financialisation, leading to a “hollowing out” of communities. We are told the economy follows “iron laws” we cannot change. This is a myth.

Loss of Control: Decisions that shape your life about jobs, housing, energy and food are increasingly made not by elected representatives, but by global markets and unaccountable institutions that have no stake in your community.

The Myth of Efficiency: We were told that leaner, faster, more “efficient” systems were progress. Then a pandemic hit, energy prices spiked, and supply chains collapsed. Efficiency without resilience isn’t smart, it’s fragile.

The Power Gap: Wealth and influence have concentrated at the top, while millions of people are stuck in work that offers little security, little meaning, and little future. That’s not a natural outcome. It’s a policy choice.

The Benefits: A resilient U.K.

By reclaiming our economic power, we aim to deliver a future that feels like the best of the past but is built for the challenges of tomorrow.

Sovereignty: Communities that own and control their own land, energy, food and banking systems.

Security: Dignified work and secure housing without the constant fear of market shocks.

Sustainability: An economy that operates safely within planetary boundaries while restoring nature.

The economy is a choice. We are choosing resilience.
